Internship Experience
COTY
The summer of 2017 I served as a Global Marketing Intern for the Group VP of New Business Ventures.
Having pioneered highly successful fragrances lines for Marc Jacobs, Calvin Klein, and Bottega Veneta, my boss’ oversight drove work for a prospective Coty license: Younique Cosmetics.
Below showcases the work contributed to a May 2018 launch.
Younique’s Signature Scents
Passionately Yours, Me Dreaming of You, Me Yours and Only Yours, Me
Following months of logistical planning, coordination with Melanie Huscroft (Younique’s Co-founder & Chief Visionary Officer), and work with creative teams, Younique launched 3 signature scents with Coty’s help.
We strategized product positioning, demographic appeal, and operational execution for timely ideation and execution.
We worked under terms of confidentiality amongst various sectional directors, prominent fragrance house executives, and perfumers to produce a highly anticipated, successful line.
Creative Contribution
Working in tandem with Coty’s Creative Director and associated team, I mixed 45+ fragrance juice colors for Younique’s Co-founder & Chief Visionary Officer to decide on.
Merging together my industry knowledge of product development, fragrance, consumer behavior, and strategic, aesthetic appeal, my sense of creativity shown through with this significant task.
The resulting 3 fragrances consist of the exact juices I formed (or variations of such).
The Development Process
Working with a completely new Coty client, my boss and I had to expand our knowledge beyond a sophisticated understanding of fragrance in grasping Younique’s brand, their consumer base, and thus existent marketable opportunities regarding a prospective fragrance launch.
Following days worth of gathering quantitative & qualitative marketing research, I produced an in-depth competitive pricing analysis, comparing top global fragrances to our positioned product.
Informing Younique leadership on our insights, my boss and I began collaborations with Operations & Logistics, piecing together varying combinations of bottles & caps to abide by our launch timeline, promote speedy production, while still meeting the Co-founder & Chief Visionary Officer’s creative needs.
Having visually photographed dozens of bottles & caps, these images were compiled into a PowerPoint presentation for the client’s reference. My tedious, detailed work expedited an all important decision-making process needed to propel our corporate agenda.
